recommendations
It is a privilege to educate our youth. Whether it be public or private school, we must demand transparency, accountability, humility, and above all, equity for all students. It is based off of our family's personal experience with Renton Prep, as well our knowledge other family and teacher stories, that we recommend the following changes at Renton Prep Christian Schools.
In order for racial equity and justice to take place the following must occur:
Current School Administrators must be replaced.
A policy to ensure that no student is dis-enrolled or expelled without due process must be instituted.
A Parent Teacher Association (PTA) must be formed in order to give parents the power to hold school Administration accountable.
Teachers and staff of color must be hired in ratios representative of the student body population. This begins with a bold recruitment strategy.
Staff and teacher professional development must include annual specialized courses in white fragility, white privilege, creating multi-cultural learning environments, and dismantling racism.
Black Lives Matter must actively be supported.
Restorative Justice practices through teacher training/certification, discipline, policies, and curriculum must be incorporated.
A comprehensive school evaluation/assessment of school's current landscape in regards equity, inclusion, and cultural competency must be done a commitment must be made to institute the recommendations from the completed report.
